The "cat challenge tattoo" started unexpectedly during Daniel’s training at the U.S. Military Police School. While explaining how fast cats reproduce and how hoarders become overwhelmed, he drew two terribly sketched cats on a whiteboard. The class burst out laughing, and one Military Police Officer joked, “I’m getting that as a tattoo.” Daniel laughed it off. But on Daniel's flight home the student texted a photo of the original sketched cats inked on the student and another officer. Daniel was shocked and flattered. Months later, back at the school, a new student asked about the tattoo. “We’re getting it after class today,” they said. This time, Daniel joined. At the tattoo shop, another student joined in, and the “cattoo challenge” was born. As Daniel got the original cats tattooed on his leg, he asked, “What if more people get this?” A student suggested, “Have each person draw a kitten, then add it to your leg to show how hoarding happens and promote spay and neuter.” And just like that, the tattoo became a living lesson in overpopulation.
